#socialmediamondays begin January 5

“Social Media” is the number one request we get when members tell us what kind of programming they want.  But social media is a lot like exercise, isn’t it?  Everyone needs it, but not everyone needs the same kind.  And, it takes time, discipline and, above all, commitment.

We all know the urban legends:  Social media is free.  Social Media is easy.  I can do it from my phone.  I can do it from my phone while I am on the beach in Jamaica.  Hordes of young, tech savvy professionals are waiting to spend heaps of money with me if I just post the right cat video.  And now grandmothers, too.

It is true, the power of social media is in your hand – probably on your smart phone.  But if you don’t know how to harness that power, and are overwhelmed by the choices and a little stunned by the technology, we’re here to help.  Just like the fitness industry, poised to get you back into shape in January with classes and trainers, we’re launching #socialmediamondays on January 5.

Free to all OPRF Chamber members, #socialmediamondays will meet in the Chamber offices at 8am on the first Monday of every month.  We’ll tackle a new topic every month, with 30 minutes of interactive presentation and 30 minutes of hands-on workshop.  Get off to the right start each month with practical knowledge and a plan for how to use what you’ve learned throughout the month.

Bring your coffee and your questions.

In this session, we’ll tackle basic vocabulary and summarize the pro’s and con’s of the most popular sites.  We’re gearing the workshop towards small business owners who want to use social media but don’t have much time.  Which is the best way to go?  Facebook? LinkedIn? Twitter? Blogging? YouTube? Reddit?  We’ll walk you through which site works best for your business goals and help you set in motion a January Social Media strategy.

To register, visit our event page on our website.

Hope to see you there!
